About me

At the age of 63 having settled down to a life of semi- retirement, enjoying leading a small Salvation Army corps (church) at Prestonpans in Scotland, I was unexpectedly given the opportunity to come to Latvia to lead the work of the Salvation Army. If you can speak of an ‘Indian Summer’ in a place like Latvia, then that is what I have been given!  It seems like a special gift from God and I am determined to make the most of this bonus opportunity to experience something completely new and unexpected.  I’m not sure I’m a natural blogger, but I thought this would be a good way of trying to record this adventure.

Christine, greetings from Janet and John. Just found your site via Marie Willermark. You look and sound very happy. Great! We’ve just shared our 1st anniversary in our retirement home in Poole, enjoying it still and I’ve just started as Pastoral Support Officer for the Southern Division. It’s good to have a ministry again.

  14. Dr John says:

Christine was not exactly in ‘dry dock’ when she was in Prestonpans; it may not be the largest Corps in Scotland but God was there. Regards. Dr John
